To Be Determined: Photography and the Future.
SPBH Essays No.1
To Be Determined is a collection of short essays revisiting assumptions about photography’s anchored relationship to the past that which Barthes called the ‘that-has-been’.
In a series of initial theoretical explorations and ekphrastic studies of individual works, To Be Determined suggests that photography has at least as much to do with the future as it does with the past, and begins an examine of the photograph’s function as an anticipatory, constructive and instructive model of what is yet to take place.
