Paperback Book, with a torn page
Novel is a book about ghostwriting and minimal literature. It takes as its source material the advertising strap-lines for mass-market paperback novels, which are advertised at train stations and other transportation hubs. Describing a narrative in upto five drama and suspense-filled lines, the writing copy - written not by the author but by advertising copywriters - describes also a sequence of dramatic and generic templates for popular fiction. Here, each book and its strap-line is given its own page, laid out in the same line sequence as it appeared in its advertising, though sequenced in order to produce a small series of interlinked narrative plots. The book contains an anonymous homage in its early pages.
